Out of Office (or OOO for short) is a new type of co-working space that’s fluid not fixed, relaxed not rigid. Found in Melia hotels across the world, they’re a place for locals and travellers to escape and get on with whatever needs doing.

The central idea behind the spaces — The Workplace Escape — plays on this desire to break free from office constraints and taps into the 'lose yourself' vibe only top hotels can offer. It’s about side-stepping the everyday grind and getting supercharged to do your best work, on your own terms.

Over the past 2 years, people have got used to the freedom that’s come with working away from the office. And, for most, there isn’t a huge desire to get back to their desks. They don’t want the commute. The structure. The ties.

They’re also not sure members clubs and co-working spaces are the ones to unshackle them. Whether it’s lengthy contracts, opening times and desk reservations, or a way of working that doesn’t always sit right with them, it all still feels a bit restrictive. Flexible, sometimes, but definitely not free.

People now want to be able to work on their own terms. Anywhere they choose. By the pool. At the bar. Across the road at their favourite coffee shop. It's why, instead of building solid spaces and investing in the ergonomic chairs and fancy coffee machines, we’re going to instil an attitude of total freedom, giving workers what they need to set up wherever they are. To work however works for them.

That's why, instead of mimicking the spaces you're used to working in, we do the opposite: a fluid, free-thinking escape from the office within the surroundings of a Melia hotel.

We’re a place where you can work whenever, wherever and however you like, and enjoy everything the hotel has to offer while you do. The open spaces. The inspiring design. The freshly made food and drinks. The quiet sofas. The rooftop gardens. The gyms. And yes, the pools.

After all, we work all day, so why not enjoy it?
